There is a brass plaque mounted above the center door that states:

"Given in memory of TRUMAN PARMELE HANDY by his daughter HELEN HANDY NEWBERRY July 1907"

From the research we found, we have determined that Truman Parmele Handy was a well known financier and banker in Cleveland, Ohio. His daughter, Helen Handy Newberry was married to John Stoughton Newberry (a U.S. Representative from Michigan). They had a son Truman Handy Newberry who was the 39th United States Secretary of the Navy and United States Senator from Michigan (1919-1922).
