- Individually Paned Glass: Cabinets with 12 individual panes held together by wooden dividers (muntins) are generally much more valuable than a single door where the glass is covered by a snap-in grid.
- Original Wavy Glass: If the glass is authentic hand-blown period glass (often identifiable by ripples, waves, and air bubbles), it significantly boosts the value to antique collectors.
- Dovetailed Case & Joinery: Hand-cut dovetails on the drawers and pegged mortise-and-tenon joints indicate true craftsmanship. A “dovetailed case” means the main structural boards of the cabinet are joined by hand-cut dovetails, which is typical of 18th- and early 19th-century construction and is highly prized.
